Who can be part of a family membership?

Anyone who is part of a family living in the same household can join under one family membership.  However, other relatives, such as grandparents, who reside elsewhere, may not be included in a family membership.

Families have the option of adding a childcare provider to their membership for a $50 additional fee.  The childcare provider may accompany any of the family members without paying a guest fee.  However, he or she is not a regular member and is not eligible to come to the swim club alone.  Any sitters must be at least 14 years old.

Can I bring guests?

Yes!  Our guest policy states that each family member can bring 1 guest per day.  For example, if you have a family of 4 , you can bring 4 additional people as guests.  A senior couple can bring only 2 guests.  And a single member can only bring 1 guest. Adult members are welcome to bring guests of any age.  Unaccompanied children 11 years of age and older may also bring guests as long as the guests are at least 11.  Guest fees are $8 per person (children under 2 are free).  A bundle of 10 guest passes can be purchased for $70.

Guest passes never expire from season to season; however, they cannot be turned in for cash value at the end of a season, nor can they be transferred toward membership payments.  You must have an active, current membership in order to use guest passes still remaining on your account from a previous membership.

What kind of food is served at the Snack Shack?

We serve only snacks, drinks, and frozen treats at the Shack, rather than meal options.  You are permitted, however, to bring any food or drink for your own personal consumption, including food to grill, but NO GLASS containers of any sort are allowed on the property.

As far as payments go, credit cards are only accepted online by you, the client, for safety reasons. We gladly accept cash, check, and Venmo payments at the check-in or snack window at the pool.

Also, for your convenience, account funds can be added onto your account for snack purchases in larger quantities, so that you are not required to bring cash or Venmo small amounts each time you would like to purchase a snack.  Simply stating your last name or using your barcoded membership card will serve as a debit card system until your snack funds run out!

Can I try out the swim club before joining?

Yes!  Non-members may come for a single day once per season on a trial basis.  The trial fee is $10 per person (up to $30 for a family), which may be applied to the cost of the membership if the guest decides to join.  Ask at the Shack if you are interested in a trial pass.

What are the rules and regulations I must follow?

Please familiarize yourself and your guests with our rules and regulations for the safety of all.  Thank you for your cooperation!

How can I support the pool?

We appreciate any support from local businesses!  As our way of saying thanks, we will promote your services to our members and the community by hanging your banner along our property fences and linking your business on this website.  Please see our sponsors below.

Also, please support us through our wish list on Amazon. No gift is too small and anything is greatly appreciated.

Who operates the pool?

We are 100% member-owned and operated, meaning our bonded members and our volunteer board have complete ownership!  At Penn Fair Swim Club, an assessment fee is required at the time of registration for all returning members to aid in the maintenance of our property.  We rely heavily on the help of our members!  As an incentive for your hard work, a member may choose to work off his assessment fee by helping with tasks, which would result in a refund of the initial fee.  A "combined total of hours" means that if three family members work on a separate or joint task(s) that takes 1 hour, they have a combined total of 4 hours work.  The refund program works like this:

  • Family Memberships must complete a combined total of 4 hours or work to receive a refund.
  • Senior Couples must complete a combined total of 2 hours to receive a refund.
  • Junior, Individual and Senior Members must complete 1 hour to receive a refund.

Opportunities to volunteer occur throughout the summer.  Please contact pennfairswim@gmail.com if you are interested in a specific volunteer role, or visit our Sign-Up Genius for on-going opportunities to help.  Thank you in advance!

Can I apply for a job?

Yes!  We're hiring qualified full-time and part-time Lifeguards for the 2023 season!  Apply here!

Can I join even if I don't live in Hedgerow Woods?

Yes!  We currently have no restrictions on membership based on one's place of residence.

Are there any other fees?

There are no additional sign-up costs for members joining  in 2023.  Members returning from 2022 or prior seasons are responsible for some additional fees:

  • Family memberships entering their second and third years are responsible for a $150 bond payment (a total bond payment of $300 over two summers) to establish ownership in the club.
  • All returning members are responsible for an up-front, but refundable ASSESSMENT FEE (formerly known as the "Maintenance Fee"), which will be refunded after completion of service hours during the season.  For junior, individual and senior members, the fee is $50 and requires 1 service hour.  For a senior couple, the fee is $75 and requires 2 service hours.  For a family, the fee is $125 and requires 4 service hours.
